MARSH
SERVED AS INSURANCE ADVISOR ON SIX PROJECT FINANCE MAGAZINE DEALS OF THE YEAR 2009 IN NORTH AMERICA
New York, New York, March 5, 2010 — Six North American transactions for which Marsh, the world's leading insurance broker and risk adviser, provided risk advisory and transactional services were selected as Project Finance Magazine Deals of the Year 2009.
Of the ten categories judged by Project Finance, the leading global source of energy and infrastructure finance news, Marsh served as an insurance advisor for six award-winning projects, including:
- Port of Miami Tunnel (North America Public-Private Partnership Deal of the Year)
- I-595 Corridor (North America Transport Deal of the Year)
- Niagara (North America Social Infrastructure Deal of the Year)
- GenConn Energy (North America Portfolio Deal of the Year)
- Fowler Ridge (North America Renewables Deal of the Year)
- Astoria II (North America Single Asset Power Deal of the Year)
"Marsh is proud to have advised on these successful and innovative deals," said Geoffrey Clark, managing director and North America Infrastructure Leader at Marsh. “We congratulate the winning sponsors and project teams. This recognition by Project Finance reflects our ongoing commitment to providing industry-leading risk advisory and transactional services to the entire infrastructure community."
Marsh professionals involved on these award-winning deals were drawn from multiple offices and practice areas, including Construction, Power & Utilities, Transportation, Healthcare, and Private Equity and M&A Services.
"Project Finance congratulates 2009's slate of winners," said Tom Nelthorpe, Project Finance Magazine's editor. "Financing conditions were extremely tough, and the deals that closed, let alone those that won awards, showed ingenuity and grit in getting to the finishing line. These qualities will be vital if the project finance community hopes to be a part of infrastructure renewal in the markets where it operates."
Launched in 1999, the Project Finance Awards judge approximately 300-350 of the past year's deals, focusing on innovation, deal repeatability, best practice, problem solving, risk mitigation, value for money, and speed of delivery. Deals were also judged in the context of the lending climate at time of financial close. The awards were presented at a dinner on March 4 in New York.
