MARSH WEBCAST OCT. 21 EXAMINES WIDENING EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES LIABILTY RISKS AS ORGANIZATIONS CUT JOBS AND DISCRIMINATION CLAIMS RISE
NEW YORK, October 13, 2009 — With many businesses and other employers facing a rising number of employee lawsuits as they trim workforces and seek to comply with new employment regulations, Marsh, the world's leading insurance broker and risk advisor, will hold a one-hour Webcast on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. (ET) on managing employment practices liability (EPL) exposures.
"In addition to navigating the challenges associated with implementing workforce reductions, employers must be keenly aware of new regulations, such as the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Acts, both of which underscore the need for employers to take a closer look at their potential EPL exposures and how they're addressing them," said Adeola Adele, a senior vice president of Marsh and leader of the firm’s Employment Practices Liability Practice.
Ms. Adele will be a panelist on Marsh's Webcast, "Hot Topics in Employment Practices Liability," along with Elizabeth Grossman, regional attorney for the New York District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC); Paul Siegel, of Jackson Lewis, LLP; and Brian Levine, a principal in Mercer's human capital consulting business. Brian Elowe, a managing director of Marsh's Global Risk Management Division, will moderate the panel, which will cover current employment practices liability trends, as well as strategies for employers to address this exposure, including an update on the employment practices liability insurance (EPLI) marketplace.
